Storm Cloud: A Weather Predicting Instrument

Part weather curiosity, part sculptural dcor, this eye-catching storm glass transforms changes in the atmosphere into ever-shifting crystal formations.

In the 1800s, during his voyage with Charles Darwin, Admiral Robert FitzRoy used and later popularized the storm glass, a device believed to offer clues about changing weather.

A beautiful twist on this classic instrument, the Storm Cloud is filled with a special liquid that forms different crystal patterns as conditions shift. Depending on the formations inside, the glass may suggest fair skies, clouds, rain, wind, or storms.

Striking and endlessly intriguing, the cloud-shaped design makes an unusual decorative accent while adding a little everyday science and wonder to your space.
